Historic Fort Wayne is an excellent place for living historians to not only educate the public, but also themselves. For the past three years, Civil War infantrymen from across the state have gathered to work on drill and other skills of the soldier. In 2008, we crossed a milestone. For one of the few times nationwide, the infantry, cavalry and artillery gathered in one place to train. It was an event-filled weekend. The participants enjoyed it greatly and what they learned can be seen at other HFWC events like Civil War days.
